Beware of Quicksand

One evening I was looking at the Nature channel and they were doing a study on quicksand.  The wildlife instructor stated that the more one struggles and tries to get “free” the faster they sink.  Furthermore, the more they stopped struggling and be stilled, the less likelihood of one sinking.

Have you ever felt like you were stuck in an emotional, financial, marital or spiritual “quicksand”? Many feel that no matter what they do, it’s the “same old thing.”  The more they try, the faster they sink. There is nothing more frustrating than feeling helpless and hopeless.  Well here are a few solutions that will help you get out of your personal, financial, emotional and spiritual quicksand.

First, turn it over to God.  If you feel that you have done everything in your power, you are probably right. Now, try God’s power.  Remember that you only have control over your actions and the way you allow someone else’s action to determine your response.  With that in mind, stop stressing out and simply “Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved (Psalms 55:22).  So, quit struggling because we know what happens when we struggle in quicksand, we sink.  Instead,  “be still and know that he is God”.

Secondly, start that difficult yet imperative action of Forgiving.  In order to move forward, you must put a “period” to the past.  Forgiving is the start of putting the past behind you.  After all, that is what a “period” means.  Not only is it important for your emotional growth, it is necessary for your spiritual growth as well. “forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive” (Colossians 3:13). God will honor your obedience and began pulling you out of your quicksand by “striating out the crooked” in your life.

Lastly, start speaking life into the situation.  The bible says, “calleth those things which be not as though they were.” (Romans 4:17).  Don’t fall into the complaining game.  Speak life into your situation and witness how the Lord will began to restore, heal and transform what ever you are going through.  I am a personal witness of his awesome healing power.  Remember, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”  (proverbs 18:21).
